Their Story
The Ducks came together as good mates with a love of surfing and food.They decided to create a place they’d be happy to work in, eat at and reflected their values. Their reputation and numbers have grown with time, while their commitment to sustainably sourced produce, surfing and each other remains strong. The Ducks dedicate considerable time and energy into sourcing ethical and sustainable produce for their restaurants.
They may be easy-going surfer dudes, but they’ve accomplished a lot since kickstarting in Bronte a few years back. They have helped establish an Australian slow food movement, have authored several cook books and have created a farm/restaurant in Byron Bay. When looking for a restaurant to pilot Happy Fish, the Ducks were a natural fit.
Chris Sorrel shares their story…
We serve amazing food, coffee, wine and beer in a relaxed setting…we do our best to use organic and sustainably grown produce where we can. We pay great attention to the distance our ingredients travel to reach us, and try to source as much of it locally, and use every skerrick of it. We grow what we can ourselves, and we recycle everything that we don’t use.
We hope to instill a small part of what we do onto everyone we come in contact with, and hopefully change our community for the better.
